UofL Email: How to Access and Use Your University Email Account

Before You Begin

Ensure you have a valid UofL user account and login credentials.
Activate your account through the Identity Management portal at identity.louisville.edu.
Confirm your email address and nickname in ULink under Resources > Email Addresses.

Learn how to activate, access and manage your UofL email account using Office365 Outlook.

Instructions

Activate Your Email Account

  • Go to identity.louisville.edu.
  • Log in and follow prompts to activate your account.
  • Once activated, you can manage your profile and email settings.

Access Your Email

  • Visit outlook.office365.com.
  • Log in using your ULink userID@louisville.edu and ULink password.
  • You may also access email through the Outlook desktop client or mobile app.

Set Up Email on Mobile Devices

  • Download the Outlook app or configure your device’s email settings.
  • Choose Microsoft Exchange as the account type.
  • Enter your UofL credentials and follow setup prompts.

Use Email Features

  • Send and receive emails using your preferred nickname (e.g., firstname.lastname@louisville.edu).
  • Use the address book to find faculty and staff contacts.
  • Create personal or public contact groups for collaboration.
  • Archive emails using Outlook’s built-in archive tools (online or personal).

Student Email for Life

  • After graduation, set up email forwarding in the Identity Management portal.
  • Go to My Profile > Email for Life > switch to Yes > enter and confirm your forwarding address > Save.

Retiree Email Options

  • Depending on eligibility, retirees may retain access or set up forwarding.
  • Contact ITS for assistance with retiree email setup.

After completing these steps, you will be able to activate, access, and manage your UofL email account securely across devices and platforms.
