Email: How to Access and Use Your University Email Account


Before You Begin

  • Ensure you have read Accounts: Overview.
  • Ensure you have read Claim Your Account.
  • You have your valid UofL login credentials handy.
  • Confirm your email address and nickname in ULink  at the bottom under Email Addresses.

 

Instructions

Access Your Email

  • Visit Outlook.
  • Log in using your UofL login credentials.
  • You may also access email through the Outlook desktop client or mobile app.

 

Set Up Email on Mobile Devices

  • Download the Outlook app or configure your device’s email settings.
  • Choose Microsoft Exchange as the account type.
  • Enter your UofL credentials and follow setup prompts.

 

Use Email Features

  • Send and receive emails using your preferred nickname (e.g., firstname.lastname@louisville.edu).
  • Use the address book to find faculty and staff contacts.
  • Create personal or public contact groups for collaboration.
  • Archive emails using Outlook’s built-in archive tools (online or personal).

 

Student Email for Life

  • After graduation, set up email forwarding in the Password and Account Management portal.
    • Go to My Profile
    • Email for Life
    • Switch to Yes
    • Enter and confirm your forwarding address
    • Save
