Account Management

Identity and Account Management Services provide secure, centralized support for creating, maintaining and managing digital identities and user accounts for students, faculty, staff and affiliates. These services ensure that users have appropriate access to university systems and resources, while protecting institutional data and complying with security policies. The Fischer Identity Management system is the backbone for account provisioning, lifecycle management and access control across the university.

Details

Account management is coordinated by ITS Enterprise Security and supported by the Fischer Identity Management platform. Services include account creation, password resets, access changes and deprovisioning, as well as support for sponsored accounts and role-based access. The team also responds to account-related security incidents and works to remediate unauthorized access.

  • Access Points: Account support is available.
  • Service Request Procedures: Submit requests for new accounts, password resets, access changes or account deactivation through the ITS Helpdesk or Fischer Identity portal. Sponsored accounts for external collaborators require departmental approval.

Change the owner of a service or sponsored account using the Identity Access Management portal if the current owner leaves or no longer manages the account. Only the current owner can complete this process. This change does not affect delegated email access for service accounts.
Close a service account or sponsored account when it is no longer needed. Only the account owner or manager can request closure. You can either contact the ITS HelpDesk to close these accounts or close them using the Identity Access Management portal.
Renew your service or sponsored account using Identity Access Management portal to maintain access. Service accounts require renewal every 12 months, and sponsored accounts every 180 days. Only the owners and managers of these accounts can complete this process using their personal University account.
Request a sponsored account for individuals who are not university employees but need access for academic or business purposes. Sponsored accounts are for visiting academics, temporary instructors or third parties working with university departments. Only authorized staff can request these accounts through the self-service portal.
