Before You Begin
- You can request to close a service account or a sponsored account by contacting the ITS HelpDesk.
- You can also request to close a service account or sponsored account by using the Identity Access Management portal.

Request closure of a sponsored account or service account.
Instructions
Using the Identity Access Management Portal
- Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
- Enter your user ID and click NEXT.
- Enter your password and click NEXT.
- Click the REQUESTS tab.
- Click the CHANGE ACCESS tab.
- In Step 2, select By User.
- Search for the service account or sponsored account by first name, last name, or user ID.
- Select the account (called “resources” in the system) using the checkboxes.
- To select all, click the checkbox next to Resource Name.
- You may see other resources, such as VPN or Blackboard.
- Click DONE.
- In Step 3, enter tomorrow's date as the new access period end date.
- In Step 4, enter comments in the comment box. Indicate that you want to close the account.
- Click SUBMIT REQUEST.
- Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
- Check your email for confirmation when the request is complete.
Contacting the ITS HelpDesk
- Contact the IT Helpdesk by calling 502-852-7997 or visiting helpdesk.louisville.edu.
- Indicate that you want to close a sponsored or service account.
- Provide the name and user ID of the account you want to close.
- Wait for confirmation from the IT Helpdesk that your request has been received and processed.
- You may receive renewal notifications after submitting your closure request. You can disregard these messages.
Outcome
After following these steps, the service account or sponsored account will be closed. You will receive confirmation once the process is complete.

- Submit a Ticket: Use the self-service portal at http://service.louisville.edu to log requests or check the status of existing tickets.
- In-Person Support: Visit the iTechConnect 1:1 help located on the lower level of the Miller Information Technology Center, Belknap Campus, during business hours.
