Outlook: How to Manage Your UofL Email as a Retiree

 

Before You Begin:

  • Confirm your retiree status and eligibility with UofL Human Resources or ITS.
  • Have your UofL email credentials ready.
  • Know your preferred personal email address if you plan to set up forwarding.

Objective or Task:

Continue receiving UofL emails after retirement by keeping your account open or setting up email forwarding.


Instructions:

  1. Check Your Retiree Email Status

    • Contact UofL Human Resources or ITS to confirm if your UofL email account will remain open or if you need to set up forwarding.
  2. If Your Account Remains Open

    • Log in to your UofL email at outlook.office365.com using your UofL credentials.
    • Continue to use your email as usual.
  3. If You Need to Set Up Email Forwarding

    • Go to the Identity Management Portal.
    • Sign in with your UofL credentials.
    • Navigate to My Profile > Profile > Email Forwarding.
    • Enter your preferred personal email address.
    • Confirm the forwarding address and save your changes.
  4. Verify Forwarding

    • Send a test email to your UofL address and confirm it arrives at your personal email.

Outcome:

After completing these steps you will continue to receive emails sent to your UofL address, either by accessing your account directly or through email forwarding to your personal address.

Q: What happens to my UofL email when I retire?
A: Depending on your status or eligibility your email account may remain open or you may be able to set up email forwarding to a personal address.
