Outlook: How to Understand UofL Email Sending Limits

 

Before You Begin:

  • Make sure you are using your UofL email account.
  • Understand that these limits apply to all UofL email users.

Objective or Task:

Learn the sending limits for your UofL email account to avoid delivery issues.


Instructions:

  1. Check the Recipient Limit

    • You can include up to 500 recipients on a single email message.
    • A public group counts as one recipient.
  2. Check the Message Rate Limit

    • You can send up to 30 email messages per minute from your account.
  3. Check the Recipient Rate Limit

    • You can send email messages to a maximum of 10,000 recipients per day.
  4. Plan Large Mailings Carefully

    • If you need to email more than these limits allow consider breaking up your mailing or using approved mass email tools.

Outcome:

After reviewing these limits you will be able to send emails without exceeding UofL’s restrictions, reducing the risk of delivery failures or account lockout.
