Before You Begin
- Only university employees can request a service account.
Objective or Task
Request a new service account using the Identity Access Management portal.
Instructions
- Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
- Enter your user ID and click NEXT.
- Enter your password and click NEXT.
- Click the REQUESTS tab.
- Select REQUEST ACCESS in the new tab.
- On Step 1 (“Select a user”), click CREATE NEW USER in the upper right corner. A new window appears.
- In the new window, on Step 1 (“User Type”), select Service Account from the dropdown menu. Click NEXT if needed.
- On Step 2 (“Personal Information”), enter the display name, username, and primary email address for the service account.
- Service account usernames cannot contain spaces and must be 16 characters or fewer.
- Verify the owner (manager) in the gray box on the right. To change the owner, click Select a Different Manager.
- Click DONE.
- On Step 2 (“Select resources and permissions”), verify the service account will receive an identity account. Proceed to Step 3.
- Service accounts do not have access to CardBox, VPN, or other resources. Requests for these will be denied.
- On Step 3 (“Specify access period”), enter the end date (expiration/renewal date) for the service account.
- The maximum renewal period is 365 days from the request date.
- On Step 4, enter a comment in the comment box (required). Explain why you need a new service account.
- Click the SUBMIT REQUEST button.
- Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
- Check your email for instructions on accessing your new service account after your request is processed.
Outcome
After completing these steps, your service account request will be submitted for review. You will receive an email with further instructions once the account is created.
