Outlook: How to Report Phishing or Junk Email
Before You Begin:
- You need access to your Office 365 Outlook client or Outlook Web App.
- Make sure you are signed in with your university email account.
Objective or Task:
Report phishing, junk or suspicious emails using the Report Message feature in Outlook.
Instructions:
For Office 365 Outlook Client
- Open the suspicious email in your Outlook client.
- Go to the Home menu.
- Click Report Message.
- Select Phishing or the appropriate option.

For Outlook Web App
- Open the suspicious email in Outlook Web.
- Click the ellipses (...) in the title bar of the email.
- Select More Actions.
- Click Report Message.
- Choose Phishing or the appropriate category.


Outcome:
After completing these steps your report will be sent to Microsoft and the university’s security team. This helps block similar threats and keeps your inbox safer.
