Google Workspace: Sending a Google Meet Request as an Outlook Calendar Invite

A) Adding the required Google Meet Add-on 

To add a Google meet to your outlook calendar, user must follow these steps first: 

  

1. If you are using the "New Outlook" for Windows or Outlook on the Web 

Microsoft removed the traditional "Get Add-ins" button from the top ribbon in the new layout.  

  • Look at the left-hand sidebar (the navigation bar showing Mail, Calendar, People). 

  • Click the Apps icon (represented by four small squares or a "More Apps" icon). 

  • Select Add apps from the menu. 

  • Search for Google Meet in the Microsoft AppSource store that pops up.  

OR 

2. If you are inside a Calendar Event or Email Draft (New Outlook/Web) 

  • Open a new calendar appointment or an email draft window. 

  • Look at the top toolbar (the action ribbon). 

  • Click the three dots (... / More options) on the far right of the toolbar. 

  • Click Apps, then click Add apps to open the store. 

OR 

3. If you are using Classic Outlook (Desktop App) 

  • Make sure you are on the Home tab. 

  • Look on the far-right side of the top ribbon for a button named All Apps or a blue hexagon icon labeled Apps. 

  • Click it to find the Add apps / Get Add-ins option. 

 

B) SENDING A GOOGLE MEET REQUEST AS AN OUTLOOK CALENDAR INVITE 

 

To send the Google Meet link as an Outlook calendar invite, you can generate the link directly inside a standard Outlook meeting request. 

Follow these steps to insert the link and send the invite: 

Step 1: Open a New Outlook Meeting 

  • Open your Outlook application or Outlook on the web. 

  • Go to your Calendar view. 

  • Click New Meeting or New Event at the top left.  

Step 2: Generate the Google Meet Link 

  • Look at the top menu ribbon of your new meeting window.  

  • Click the Google Meet icon (it usually says Add Google Meet or Meet options).  

  • Note: If you don't see it on the main ribbon, click the three dots (... / More options) on the far right of the toolbar, select Apps, and click Google Meet

  • If prompted, log in with your Google Workspace account. 

  • The add-in will automatically generate a unique Google Meet URL and paste it directly into the location field and the body text of your Outlook invite.  

Step 3: Add Details and Send 

  • Fill out the Title of your meeting. 

  • Add your attendees' email addresses in the Required or To field. 

  • Select your desired Date and Time

  • Click Send

Your attendees will receive a standard Outlook calendar invitation. When they open it on their computers or phones, they will see the native Google Meet link ready to click and join.
