Accounts: How to Renew Service Accounts and Sponsored Accounts


Before You Begin

  • You must be the owner or manager of the service account or sponsored account to renew the account.
  • Have YOUR UofL login credentials handy.

Instructions

Renew a Service Account

  1. Go to Password and Account Management.
  2. Enter your UofL login credentialsnot the service account or sponsored account user ID or password.
  3. Click SIGN IN.
  4. Click the REQUEST HUB tab.
  5. Click the CHANGE ACCESS tab. (If the Tab is missing see below)
  6. Search for the service account by user ID (Service Account ID).
  7. Under ACCESS, enter the new END DATE for all resources (up to 12 months from today).
    • The renewal period starts from the day you submit the request, not the current expiration date. (For example, if you renew a service account on 06/01/2026 for 12 months and the account expires on 07/31/2026, the new expiration date for the account is 06/01/2027, not 07/31/2027.)
    • You must update the end date for all of the resources listed under the account. Failure to do so will result in continuing to receive renewal/expiration emails.
  8. Click SUBMIT.
  9. Enter comments in the comment box.
  10. Click SUBMIT.
  11. Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
  12. Check your email for confirmation when the renewal is complete.

 

Renew a Sponsored Account

  1. Go to Password and Account Management.
  2. Enter your UofL login credentialsnot the service account or sponsored account user ID or password.
  3. Click SIGN IN.
  4. Enter your password and click NEXT.
  5. Click the REQUEST HUB tab.
  6. Click the CHANGE ACCESS tab. (If the Tab is missing see below)
  7. In Step 2, select By User.
  8. Search for the sponsored account by user ID (Sponsored Account User ID), first name, or last name.
  9. Under ACCESS, enter the new END DATE for all resources (up to 180 days from today).
    • The renewal period starts from the day you submit the request, not the current expiration date. (For example, if you renew a sponsored account on 06/01/2026 for 180 days and the account expires on 07/31/2026, the new expiration date for the account is 12/01/2026, not 01/31/2027.)
    • You must update the end date for all of the resources listed under the account. Failure to do so will result in continuing to receive renewal/expiration emails.
  10. Click SUBMIT.
  11. Enter comments in the comment box.
  12. Click SUBMIT.
  13. Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
  14. Check your email for confirmation when the renewal is complete. The sponsored user will also receive an email.

 

(If Change Access tab is missing)

  1. Clear the temp files in your browser.
    1. Click the 3 Dots in the top right corner of the browser.
    2. Click Delete Browsing Data
    3. On the pop up window click the button Delete Data or Clear Now.
  2. Close all Browser windows and tabs.
  3. Reopen your browser
  4. Try to renew the account again using the above steps.

 

Outcome

After completing these steps, your service or sponsored account will be renewed for the selected period. You and, for sponsored accounts, the sponsored user will receive email confirmation.
