Phones: How to Use University VoIP & Webex Calling

 

Before You Begin

  • Make sure you have a UofL network account and credentials.
  • Confirm you have access to a supported device (desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile).
  • Request phone service setup through ITS if you do not already have access.

Objective or Task

Set up and use UofL VoIP and Webex phone services for calls, voicemail and emergency location compliance.


Instructions

  1. Request Phone Service

  2. Install Webex Application

    • Download the Webex app for your device from the official site or app store.
    • Open the app and sign in using your UofL credentials.
  3. Make and Receive Calls

    • In the Webex app select the Call icon.
    • Enter the number or select a contact.
    • Click Call to start your conversation.
  4. Set Up Voicemail

    • In the Webex app go to Settings.
    • Select Voicemail and follow the prompts to record your greeting.
  5. Update Emergency Location

    • Go to Settings in the Webex app.
    • Select Service Address and enter your current location (building, floor, room).
    • Save changes to ensure E911 compliance.
  6. Manage Phone Settings

    • Use Settings to enable Call Forwarding, Do Not Disturb or Block Numbers as needed.

Outcome

After completing these steps you can make and receive calls using your UofL phone number on any device, manage voicemail and ensure your emergency location is up to date for campus safety compliance.
