Objective

Enter an initial Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan in Workday and complete all required manager actions.


Instructions

Prepare the Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan Document

  1. Email Employee Relations to request the Performance Improvement Plan or Attendance Improvement Plan template.
  2. Add your departmental letterhead to the template.
  3. Complete the template for your employee.
  4. Email the completed document to Employee Relations for review and feedback.
  5. Update the document based on Employee Relations feedback.
  6. Email the revised document to Employee Relations for final approval.
  7. Provide a printed copy of the approved plan to the employee.
  8. Review and discuss the improvement plan with the employee.
  9. Obtain the employee’s signature on the document.

Start the Initial Improvement Plan in Workday

  1. Sign in to Workday.
  2. Enter Performance Improvement in the Search field.
  3. Select Start Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan for Employee.
  4. Enter the employee’s name or use the prompt icon to select the employee.
  5. Select Performance Improvement Plan Initial Documentation or Attendance Improvement Plan Initial Documentation.
  6. Enter the Period Start Date.
  7. Enter the Period End Date.
  8. Select Submit.

Complete the Manager Evaluation Task

  1. Open your Workday Inbox.
  2. Select Manager Evaluation under the Actions tab.
  3. Select Add to open the attachment section.
  4. Select Attach and upload the Employee Relations–approved improvement plan document.
  5. Select the check icon to save.
  6. Select Submit to route the evaluation for Employee Relations approval.

Enter Manager Review Comments

  1. Review the improvement plan with the employee.
  2. Open your Workday Inbox.
  3. Select Manager Evaluation under the Actions tab.
  4. Select Edit to open the Manager Acknowledge section.
  5. Select Acknowledge Review – Provide Date of Employee Discussion.
  6. Enter the meeting date.
  7. Enter notes from the discussion in the Comment field.
  8. Select the check icon to save.
  9. Select Submit to complete the process.

Outcome

The initial Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan is documented in Workday, acknowledged by the employee, and routed appropriately for review and tracking.
