Quick Reference Guide
Objective
Enter an initial Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan in Workday and complete all required manager actions.
Instructions
Prepare the Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan Document
- Email Employee Relations to request the Performance Improvement Plan or Attendance Improvement Plan template.
- Add your departmental letterhead to the template.
- Complete the template for your employee.
- Email the completed document to Employee Relations for review and feedback.
- Update the document based on Employee Relations feedback.
- Email the revised document to Employee Relations for final approval.
- Provide a printed copy of the approved plan to the employee.
- Review and discuss the improvement plan with the employee.
- Obtain the employee’s signature on the document.
Start the Initial Improvement Plan in Workday
- Sign in to Workday.
- Enter Performance Improvement in the Search field.
- Select Start Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan for Employee.
- Enter the employee’s name or use the prompt icon to select the employee.
- Select Performance Improvement Plan Initial Documentation or Attendance Improvement Plan Initial Documentation.
- Enter the Period Start Date.
- Enter the Period End Date.
- Select Submit.
Complete the Manager Evaluation Task
- Open your Workday Inbox.
- Select Manager Evaluation under the Actions tab.
- Select Add to open the attachment section.
- Select Attach and upload the Employee Relations–approved improvement plan document.
- Select the check icon to save.
- Select Submit to route the evaluation for Employee Relations approval.
Enter Manager Review Comments
- Review the improvement plan with the employee.
- Open your Workday Inbox.
- Select Manager Evaluation under the Actions tab.
- Select Edit to open the Manager Acknowledge section.
- Select Acknowledge Review – Provide Date of Employee Discussion.
- Enter the meeting date.
- Enter notes from the discussion in the Comment field.
- Select the check icon to save.
- Select Submit to complete the process.
Outcome
The initial Performance or Attendance Improvement Plan is documented in Workday, acknowledged by the employee, and routed appropriately for review and tracking.
