Objective

Update your federal (W-4), state (K-4 or WH-4), and local withholding elections in Workday.

Instructions

Update Federal Withholding Elections (W-4)

  1. Open your Workday Inbox and select Complete Federal Withholding Elections if you are a new employee.
  2. Enter Withholding Elections in the Workday search bar and select the report if you are an existing employee.
  3. Open your Worker Profile, select Pay, and review your current withholding elections.
  4. Select Update to begin making changes.
  5. Enter your Marital Status.
  6. Select Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works if you hold more than one job or are married filing jointly and your spouse also works.
  7. Under Claim Dependents, enter the number of qualifying children under age 17.
  8. Enter the number of other dependents.
  9. Enter an override total dependent amount if applicable.
  10. Under Other Adjustments, enter other income not from jobs if applicable.
  11. Enter deductions if applicable.
  12. Enter any extra withholding amount if applicable.
  13. Select Exempt if you expect to have no federal income tax liability.
  14. Select Nonresident Alien if applicable.
  15. Select I Agree to electronically verify your selections.
  16. Select OK to complete the update.

Update State and Local Withholding Elections (K-4 or WH-4)

  1. Open your Workday Inbox and select Complete State and Local Withholding Elections if you are a new employee.
  2. Enter Withholding Elections in the Workday search bar and select the report if you are an existing employee.
  3. Open your Worker Profile, select Pay, and review your current withholding elections.
  4. Select Update to begin making changes.
  5. On the Complete State and Local Withholding Elections page, enter your Company.
  6. Enter the Effective Date.
  7. Select the appropriate State.
  8. Select the correct Withholding Form Type.
  9. Select OK to continue.
  10. Select View Blank Form if you want to review the blank version of the form.
  11. Complete the form with your state withholding elections.
  12. Select I Agree to electronically verify your selections.
  13. Select OK to complete the update.

Outcome

Your federal, state, and local withholding elections are updated in Workday and will be applied to future paychecks based on the effective date you selected.
