Objective or Task
Select and submit retiree benefit elections in Workday when starting retirement.
Before You Begin
- You are a benefits‑eligible employee retiring from the University of Louisville.
- You have access to Workday.
- You understand that retiree benefits are different from active employee benefits.
- You have dependent and beneficiary information available if applicable.
Instructions
Start Retiree Benefit Enrollment
- From the Workday landing page, open your Workday Inbox.
- Locate the Benefit Change task.
- Select Let’s Get Started.
Enroll in Health Care Plans (Optional)
- On the Change Benefits page, select Enroll or Manage under each Medical, Dental, and Vision card.
- Review the default plans carried over from active employment.
- Select Select to keep coverage or Waive to drop coverage.
- Review dependent coverage.
- You may keep or drop existing dependents.
- You cannot add new dependents at retirement.
- Select Confirm and Continue.
- Select Save.
Enroll in Retiree Life Insurance (Optional)
- Select Enroll or Manage under the desired Insurance plan.
- Select the retiree life insurance plan options.
- If enrolling in Retiree Optional Life, first select the base coverage option.
- Select additional coverage amounts if desired.
- Complete any required health information if prompted.
- Select Confirm and Continue.
Add or Update Beneficiaries
- Add at least one Beneficiary for retiree life insurance.
- Enter beneficiary names and allocate percentages totaling 100 percent.
- Add additional beneficiaries if needed.
- Select Save for each insurance plan.
Review and Submit Benefits
- Select Review and Sign.
- Review selected benefits, dependents, and beneficiaries.
- Review the legal notice and select I Accept.
- Select Submit to confirm retiree benefit selections.
- Select View Benefits Statement to review or print your confirmation.
Outcome
Your retiree benefit elections are successfully submitted in Workday and take effect according to retiree benefit plan rules.
