Objective or Task

Select and submit benefit elections in Workday as a newly eligible employee.


Before You Begin

  • You are newly eligible for University benefits.
  • You have access to Workday.
  • You understand that you have 30 days from the date you become eligible to complete benefit elections.
  • You have dependent and beneficiary information available if applicable.

Instructions

Start Benefit Enrollment

  1. From the Workday landing page, open your Workday Inbox.
  2. Locate the Change Benefits task.
  3. Select Let’s Get Started.

Enroll in Benefit Plans

  1. On the Change Benefits page, select Enroll for each benefit plan you want to review.
  2. Review available Medical, Dental, and Vision plans.
  3. Select Select or Waive for each plan.
  4. Select Confirm and Continue.

Add Dependents (Optional)

  1. Select Add New Dependent if you want to add a dependent.
  2. Indicate whether the dependent will also be a Beneficiary.
  3. Enter the dependent’s required information.
  4. Confirm the dependent is selected for the appropriate benefit plan.
  5. Select Save.

Enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts (Optional)

  1. Select Enroll under Healthcare FSA or Dependent Care FSA.
  2. Select the available plan.
  3. Select Confirm and Continue.
  4. Enter the Per Paycheck or Annual contribution amount.
  5. Select Save.

Enroll in Insurance and Add Beneficiaries (Optional)

  1. Select Enroll under the desired Insurance plan.
  2. Select the coverage amount if applicable.
  3. Add at least one Beneficiary for required life insurance plans.
  4. Allocate beneficiary percentages totaling 100 percent.
  5. Select Save for each insurance plan.

Review and Submit Benefits

  1. Select Review and Sign.
  2. Review selected benefits, dependents, and beneficiaries.
  3. Review the legal notice and select I Accept.
  4. Select Submit to confirm benefit selections.
  5. Select View Benefits Statement to review or print your confirmation.

Outcome

Your benefit elections are successfully submitted in Workday and take effect according to plan rules for newly eligible employees.
