Objective or Task
Select and submit benefit elections in Workday as a newly eligible employee.
Before You Begin
- You are newly eligible for University benefits.
- You have access to Workday.
- You understand that you have 30 days from the date you become eligible to complete benefit elections.
- You have dependent and beneficiary information available if applicable.
Instructions
Start Benefit Enrollment
- From the Workday landing page, open your Workday Inbox.
- Locate the Change Benefits task.
- Select Let’s Get Started.
Enroll in Benefit Plans
- On the Change Benefits page, select Enroll for each benefit plan you want to review.
- Review available Medical, Dental, and Vision plans.
- Select Select or Waive for each plan.
- Select Confirm and Continue.
Add Dependents (Optional)
- Select Add New Dependent if you want to add a dependent.
- Indicate whether the dependent will also be a Beneficiary.
- Enter the dependent’s required information.
- Confirm the dependent is selected for the appropriate benefit plan.
- Select Save.
Enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts (Optional)
- Select Enroll under Healthcare FSA or Dependent Care FSA.
- Select the available plan.
- Select Confirm and Continue.
- Enter the Per Paycheck or Annual contribution amount.
- Select Save.
Enroll in Insurance and Add Beneficiaries (Optional)
- Select Enroll under the desired Insurance plan.
- Select the coverage amount if applicable.
- Add at least one Beneficiary for required life insurance plans.
- Allocate beneficiary percentages totaling 100 percent.
- Select Save for each insurance plan.
Review and Submit Benefits
- Select Review and Sign.
- Review selected benefits, dependents, and beneficiaries.
- Review the legal notice and select I Accept.
- Select Submit to confirm benefit selections.
- Select View Benefits Statement to review or print your confirmation.
Outcome
Your benefit elections are successfully submitted in Workday and take effect according to plan rules for newly eligible employees.
