Objective or Task

Submit a qualifying life event in Workday and change benefit elections as allowed for that event.


Before You Begin

  • You have access to Workday.
  • You experienced a qualifying life event.
  • You have supporting documentation available if required.
  • You understand that some benefit changes are limited based on the life event type.

Instructions

Start the Life Event Process

  1. Enter Change Benefits in the Workday search bar and select the task.
  2. Select the appropriate Life Event reason from the Change Reason section.
  3. Enter the Date the life event occurred.
  4. Upload required documentation in the Attachments section if applicable.
  5. Select Submit to continue.

Change Benefit Elections

  1. Open your Workday Inbox.
  2. Select the Change Benefit Elections task.
  3. Select Let’s Get Started.
  4. On the Change Benefits page, select Manage or Enroll for each benefit card.
  5. Review available plans and select Select or Waive as appropriate.
  6. Select Confirm and Continue.

Update Dependents and Accounts

  1. For Medical, Dental, or Vision benefits, add or remove eligible dependents.
  2. For Flexible Spending Accounts, select Enroll or Manage and choose the plan.
  3. Enter the Per Paycheck or Annual contribution amount when required.
  4. For Insurance benefits, select coverage levels as applicable.

Add Beneficiaries

  1. Add at least one Beneficiary for required life insurance plans.
  2. Enter beneficiary names and allocate percentages totaling 100 percent.
  3. Select Save on each insurance benefit card.

Review and Submit

  1. Select Review and Sign.
  2. Review benefit selections, dependents, and beneficiaries.
  3. Review the legal notice and select I Accept.
  4. Select Submit to confirm benefit changes.

View Confirmation

  1. Select View Benefits Statement to review or print your confirmation.

Outcome

Your life event benefit change is submitted for review, and approved changes take effect according to benefit plan rules once processed.
