Objective or Task
Create and submit a job requisition in Workday so Human Resources can post the position and begin the recruitment process.
Before You Begin
- You have access to Workday as a Primary Recruiter.
- You know the Supervisory Organization and whether the position already exists.
- You have job details, compensation information and required attachments available.
Instructions

From the Workday landing page, enter Create Job Requisition in the search bar.
- If available, you may also select the shortcut from the Recruiter Hub.

In the Create Job Requisition prompt, complete the required fields.
- For Copy Details from Existing Requisition, select an existing requisition if you want to reuse details.
- For Supervisory Organization, select the organization for the position.

Select the appropriate position option based on the supervisory organization.
- Select Create New Position if the position does not exist.
- Select For Existing Position if an unfilled or upcoming position already exists.
- If hiring into a Job Management (JM) organization, continue to the next step.

Leave Worker Type set to the default of Employee, then select OK.

Select the pencil icon to enter Recruiting Information details.
- Complete the Recruiting Information and Job sections with job duties and requirements.
- Link an evergreen requisition in the Job section if applicable.
- Review and complete optional Qualifications fields as needed.

Review and complete the remaining sections.
- Confirm details in Organizations.
- Upload documents in Attachments if required.
- Enter salary or hourly details in Compensation.
- Assign one or more Primary Recruiters in Assign Roles.

Review all entered information on the Summary page.
- Use the Comments field to note desired posting dates or posting length.
- Select Submit to start the approval process.

After submitting, select Open to Edit Additional Data from your inbox.
- Enter the Costing Organization responsible for advertising costs.
- Select Submit to continue routing for approval.

When prompted, open Change Organization Assignments from your inbox.
- Review and update costing information if necessary.
- Select Submit.

After final approval, Human Resources posts the job using the recruiting dates and instructions you provided.

Review follow-up tasks if assigned.
- The Primary Recruiter receives instructions to create a Search Committee if required.
- You can review underutilization status from the Details tab on the job requisition.
Outcome
The job requisition is approved, posted by Human Resources and available for candidates to apply, allowing the recruitment process to move forward.
