Request Accounts: Virtual Private Network (VPN)


Before You Begin

  • All university employees receive a VPN1 account by default.
  • University students do not receive a VPN1 account by default. University students can request a VPN1 account via the Identity and Access Management portal.
  • University students and employees can request VPN via the Identity and Access Management portal if access to specialized data is needed.
  • Please have your UofL login credentials handy.

 

Instructions

  1. Go to Password and Account Management.
  2. Enter your user ID and password.
  3. Click SIGN IN.
  4. Click the REQUEST HUB tab.
  5. Select REQUEST ACCESS in the new tab.
  6. Select yourself (Myself).
  7. Click CONFIRM.
  8. Select VPN and click NEXT.
    • Employees automatically receive a VPN1 account. Only request VPN if you need access to specialized data.
    • Students are not automatically given VPN1 and can request it here. Only request VPN2, VPN3 or VPN4 if you need specialized access.
  9. Select PERMANENT.
  10. Enter a comment in the comment box (required). Explain why you need a VPN.
  11. Click SUBMIT.
  12. Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
