Before You Begin
- All university employees receive a VPN1 account by default.
- University students do not receive a VPN1 account by default. University students can request a VPN1 account via the Identity and Access Management portal.
- University students and employees can request VPN via the Identity and Access Management portal if access to specialized data is needed.
Objective or Task
Request a Virtual Private Network (VPN) account using the Identity and Access Management portal.
Instructions
- Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
- Enter your user ID and password.
- Click SIGN IN.
- Click the REQUEST HUB tab.
- Select REQUEST ACCESS in the new tab.
- Select yourself (Myself).
- Click CONFIRM.
- Select VPN and click NEXT.
- Employees automatically receive a VPN1 account. Only request VPN if you need access to specialized data.
- Students are not automatically given VPN1 and can request it here. Only request VPN2, VPN3 or VPN4 if you need specialized access.
- Select PERMANENT.
- Enter a comment in the comment box (required). Explain why you need a VPN.
- Click SUBMIT.
- Look for a confirmation message on the screen.
Outcome
After your request is approved, you will receive an email with instructions on downloading the VPN client and using your VPN account.
