Web: Web Page Blocked Per University Policy: How to Respond and Request Review

Before You Begin

  • Have your UofL login credentials available.
  • Review university security policies and acceptable use guidelines.
  • Identify the website or resource you are trying to access.

 

Instructions

Respond to a Blocked Web Page

  • If you see a “Web Page Blocked Per University Policy” message, do not attempt to bypass the restriction.
  • Review the reason for the block, which may include malware, phishing, copyright infringement or non-compliance with university policies.

Request a Review or Exception

  • If you believe the site is blocked in error or is needed for university business, submit a request to ITS for review.
  • Provide the URL, your contact information and a justification for access.
  • Requests are evaluated by ITS Enterprise Security for risk and compliance.

Follow University Policies

  • Do not use VPNs, proxies or other methods to bypass university web filtering.
  • Access to blocked sites may be granted only for approved academic, research or business purposes.

Report Security Concerns

  • If you suspect a blocked site is related to a security incident (e.g., phishing, malware), report it to secureit@louisville.edu or the ITS HelpDesk.

After completing these steps, you will understand why web pages are blocked, how to request a review and how to comply with university security policies.
