Instructions
Request Access to CARDS
Submit a service request ticket to the Research Computing group with a brief description of your research project and storage needs.
Log In to CARDS
Use your UofL credentials to access CARDS storage from LARCC or other supported clusters. Account sharing is prohibited; each user must use their own credentials.
Manage Data on CARDS
- Store research datasets, analysis results and project files in your allocated CARDS directory.
- Each user on LARCC is provided 1TB of storage on CARDS. For additional storage, submit a service request with justification.
- Use CARDS for persistent data storage; do not use scratch directories for long-term data retention.
Monitor and Maintain Storage Usage
- Regularly review your storage usage and remove unnecessary files.
- Follow quota limits and data retention policies.
- Data not under regulatory retention requirements may be purged six months after separation from UofL unless an exception is requested.
Review System Documentation and Policies
Consult system documentation for storage limits, data management best practices and compliance requirements.
Follow all acceptable use policies; prohibited activities include account sharing, storing illegal or inappropriate data and using storage for personal financial gain.
