Objective or Task

Extend the employment end date for a term faculty member in Workday for reappointment purposes.


Instructions

  1. Open the faculty member’s profile in Workday.

  2. Select Actions under the faculty member’s name, then select Job Change and Start Job Change.

  3. In the Start Job Change prompt:

    • Confirm the faculty member appears in the Worker field.
    • In What do you want to do?, select Academic Reappointment.
  4. In the Start section, enter or review the following:

    • When do you want this change to take effect?
      • Use the default date if possible to avoid unnecessary compensation updates.
    • Why are you making this change?
      • Reappointment will auto‑populate.
    • Do you want to use the next pay period?
      • This will auto‑populate based on the effective date.
  5. Select Start.

  6. In the Job section, make no changes.

  7. In the Location section, make no changes.

  8. In the Details section:

    • Open the Administrative box.
    • Update the End Employment Date to reflect the new reappointment end date.
  9. In the Organizations section, make no changes.

  10. In the Compensation section:

    • Open the Salary box.
    • Expand Additional Details.
    • Update both the Expected End Date and Actual End Date so they match the new End Employment Date.
  11. Review all changes, enter a Comment, and select Submit to route the reappointment for approval.

  12. When prompted after submission, use the Update Academic Appointment process to align the academic appointment end date with the updated employment end date.


Outcome

The term faculty member’s employment end date is successfully extended in Workday, and the academic appointment end date is aligned with the reappointment, with no changes made to salary.
