What is Facility Management (FM)?

It is the coordinated management of an organization's buildings, sites and workplaces, and the support services needed to keep them functional, safe and effective for occupants and operations.

The scope of facilities management varies by organization and sector, but commonly includes building operations and maintenance (for example mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems), space and workplace planning, and workplace services such as cleaning, security and catering.

Our Physical Plant is responsible for over 10.5 million square feet comprising over 130 University owned buildings along with 660 acres of land. Physical Plant also operates and maintains a central steam and chilled water plant on our Belknap campus and a 13,800-volt distribution system at our Health Sciences Center and Belknap Campuses.  Please visit their website for more information Physical Plant website.
