You will use this article to request a Workday security role change for a supervisory organization. This process applies when access needs change for who can support, view, or act within a supervisory organization and must be submitted by approved roles only.

Objective or Task
Request the addition or removal of Workday security roles assigned to a supervisory organization.
Before You Begin
- Confirm you are an HR Initiator, HR Partner, or Budget Manager, as only these roles can submit the request.
- Discuss the required access with the manager and Budget Manager (Lead Fiscal Officer).
- Identify the security role(s) to add or remove.
- Identify the topmost supervisory organization, including the full name and organization ID if available.
- Identify the position ID for the worker impacted by the change.
- Prepare a clear business justification for the request.
Instructions
Review Current Role Assignments
- Enter the name of the topmost supervisory organization or supervisor in the Workday search bar.
- Select the supervisory organization from the search results.
- Select the Roles tab.
- Filter the Assignable Role column to review roles currently assigned to the organization.
Submit the Security Change Request
- From the Workday landing page, enter Create Request in the search bar and select the task.
- Select All > Security Change Request for Sup Orgs for the Request Type.
- Select OK to open the request form.
- Enter the required information in the form.
a. Provide a detailed business justification.
b. Enter the topmost supervisory organization name and organization ID.
c. Enter the position ID for the affected worker.
d. Indicate whether you need to add or remove role assignments.
- Add any comments or attachments if needed.
- Select Submit to route the request for approval.
Outcome
Your security change request routes to the required approvers. Once approved, the supervisory organization’s security roles update according to the request.
