This article explains how you act on behalf of another user in Workday when delegation has been assigned to you. Delegation is intended for temporary situations, such as when an employee is on extended leave.

Objective or Task

Access delegated tasks and act on behalf of another user in Workday.


Instructions

Access Delegated Tasks

  1. Open Workday.
  2. Select the Notifications icon.
  3. Review the delegation notification.
  4. Select View Entire Delegation Inbox.

Open the Delegation Inbox

  1. Review the Delegation Inbox for tasks awaiting action.
  2. Select Take Action to begin acting on behalf of the user.

Switch Accounts to Act on Behalf of Another User

  1. Select your Profile icon.
  2. Select Switch Account.
  3. Select the account you will act on behalf of.

Work in Delegated Mode

  1. Confirm the banner displays On behalf of at the top of the screen.
  2. Review the Delegation Dashboard.
  3. Select links to initiate tasks or run reports, if available.
  4. Navigate to the user’s Inbox to complete delegated actions or approvals.
  5. Complete the assigned tasks.

End the Delegated Session

  1. Select your Profile icon.
  2. Select Switch Account.
  3. Select your own account to return to normal access.

Outcome

You successfully act on behalf of another user in Workday and complete delegated tasks within the assigned delegation period.
