Instructions

Access the Workday Inbox

  1. Open Workday.
  2. Select the Inbox icon in the navigation bar.

Understand Inbox Layout

  1. Select Actions to view tasks, approvals, and To Dos that require action.
  2. Select Archive to view items you previously completed.
  3. Review archived items from the last 30 days.
  4. Select View More Processes to search for items older than 30 days.

Sort and Filter Inbox Items

  1. Select the Viewing drop‑down menu.
  2. Filter inbox items to show overdue actions.
  3. Select the Sort drop‑down menu.
  4. Sort items by oldest first, newest first, or due date.
  5. Select the Star icon to mark an inbox item as a favorite.

Take Action on Inbox Items

  1. Select an inbox item to open it.
  2. Select Submit to complete the step and move the process forward.
  3. Select Approve to authorize the action.
  4. Select Close to exit the task without saving changes.
  5. Select Cancel to discard changes and keep the item in your Inbox.
  6. Select Send Back to return the item to a previous step with comments.
  7. Select Save for Later to store progress and return later.
  8. Select Deny to stop the business process.
  9. Select Add Approvers to include additional reviewers.

Outcome

You can successfully manage tasks, approvals, and To Dos using the Workday Inbox and take appropriate action on business processes assigned to you.
