Objective
Create and submit a Development Plan in Workday.
Instructions

From the Workday landing page, enter Start My Development Plan in the search bar and select the task.

If you prefer navigating through your profile: a. Select your profile icon.
b. Select View Profile.
c. Select Performance.
d. Select Development Plans from the view column.
e. Select Start My Development Plan.

On the Start My Development Plan page, complete the required fields: a. In Review Template, use the prompt icon and select Career Development Plan.
b. Enter a Period Start Date.
c. Enter a Period End Date.

Select Submit to initiate the development plan.

When the Start Development Plan Confirmation notification appears, select Open.

Go to your Workday Inbox and under the Actions tab select Career Development Plan.

On the Complete Employee Plan page, choose one of the following:
- Go to Guided Editor to complete the plan step by step.
- Go to Summary Editor to view and edit all sections on one page.

In the Career section: a. Select the edit icon.
b. Use the prompt icon to complete the Career Preferences field.
c. Select the check icon to save.

In the Employee Self-Assessment section: a. Select the edit icon for each question.
b. Enter your response in the Answer field.
c. Select the check icon to save.

In the Ongoing Development Items section: a. Select Add.
b. Complete the Development Item and Status fields.
c. Enter additional details such as Additional Information, Relates To, Start Date, and Status as applicable.
d. Select the check icon to save.
e. Repeat as needed to add more development items.

In the Job Responsibilities section: a. Select Add.
b. Enter the responsibility in the Responsibility field.
c. In Employee Evaluation, select a value from the Rating dropdown.
d. Add comments if the responsibility is no longer relevant.
e. Select the check icon to save.
f. Add additional responsibilities as needed.

In the Competencies section: a. Select the edit icon for each competency.
b. Use the Proficiency Rating dropdown in Employee Evaluation to select your rating.

Review all information on the summary page and use the edit icon to make any changes.

Select Submit to complete your Development Plan.

If prompted with a To Do to review the plan with your manager: a. Open the To Do from your Workday Inbox.
b. Enter comments if desired.
c. Select Submit after discussion or if no discussion is planned.
Outcome
Your Development Plan is submitted in Workday and available for ongoing review and updates.
