This article explains how managers, HR Initiators, and HR Partners can change organization assignments for one or more employees in Workday when their assignments need to differ from the default supervisory organization for reporting or payroll purposes.

Objective or Task
Change organization assignments for employees in Workday.
Instructions

From the Workday landing page, enter Change Organization Assignments in the search bar or open the task from your Workday Inbox if it is part of another HR process.

Enter the Effective Date and the Supervisory Organization of the worker or workers whose organization assignments will change.

Select OK.

In the results table, select the checkbox in the Assign Organizations column for each worker whose organization assignments will change.

Update organization assignments using one of the following methods:
- If all selected workers will have the same organization assignments, use the Override Organization Assignments table to update the Proposed Organizations.
- If workers will have different organization assignments, use the Proposed Organization column in each worker’s row to enter the correct organizations.

Enter a value for every organization type for each selected worker, even if an organization assignment is not changing.

Select Submit to complete the process.
Outcome
The selected employees’ organization assignments are updated in Workday and will be used for payroll processing and reporting.
