Request Return from Leave on behalf of an Employee

Summary

This article explains how you request a return from leave of absence on behalf of an employee in Workday. Managers or authorized staff use this process to record the employee’s actual return date, remove the on‑leave status, and restore normal pay and accruals. The employee must currently be in an on‑leave status.

Objective or Task:

Request a return from leave of absence on behalf of an employee in Workday.

Instructions:

  1. Enter Return Worker from Leave in the Workday search bar.
  2. Select Return Worker from Leave from the results.
  3. Enter the employee’s name in the Return Worker from Leave prompt.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Enter the First Day Back at Work.
  6. Enter the Actual Last Day of Absence.
  7. Add Supporting Documents if required.
  8. Enter Comments if needed.
  9. Upload Attachments if applicable.
  10. Select Leave of Absence as the attachment Category.
  11. Select Submit.

Outcome:

The employee is returned from leave in Workday, the on‑leave status ends, and pay and accruals resume as applicable.
