Email: How To Add a Safe Sender to Junk Email Options

Summary

Add trusted email addresses to your safe senders list in Outlook to ensure important messages are not sent to your Junk folder. This is helpful for receiving emails from specific senders without interruption.

Body

Before You Begin:

  • Make sure you have your UofL login credentials handy.
  • You need access to your University email.
  • If you are not in Cached mode, you may see an extra prompt.

Instructions

New Outlook

  1. Open the New Outlook desktop application.
  2. On the top of the application, click File.
  3. Click Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.
  4. In the new window that appears, select Mail.
  5. Click Junk email.
  6. Under "Senders", click Add safe sender.
  7. Enter the email address you want to indicate as a safe sender.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Save.

Classic Outlook

  1. Open the Classic Outlook desktop application.
  2. On the top of the application, click the three dots (...)
  3. Click the right-facing arrow next to Block.
  4. Click Junk E-mail Options.
  5. In the new window that appears, click the Safe Senders tab.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Enter the email address you want to mark as a safe sender.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Apply.
  10. Click OK.

Outlook on the Web

  1. Log in to Outlook on the Web .
  2. Click the Settings icon (gear) in the top right corner.
  3. In the Settings window, select Mail.
  4. Click Junk email.
  5. Under Safe senders and domains, click + Add.
  6. Enter the email address you want to add (for example, PrintAnywhere@Louisville.DoNotReply.edu) and press Enter.
  7. Click Save to complete the process.
