Wireless Configuration Guide: How to Connect to UofL Wi-Fi

UofL provides secure wireless access across campus using eduroam, the preferred network for students, faculty, and staff. The SecureW2 onboarding tool automates setup and ensures encrypted connectivity. Manual configuration is available for advanced users or unsupported devices.

Before You Begin

  • Required access or permissions: You must be an active faculty, staff or student to receive a UofL account.
  • Have your UofL login credentials available.
  • Identify your device type (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chromebook, Linux).
  • Review UofL wireless policies and preferred connection methods.

 

Instructions

Automated Configuration

  • Open a web browser on your device and go to the UofL SecureW2 onboarding tool.
  • Select your operating system and follow the prompts to install the security certificate.
  • Enter your UofL credentials when prompted.
  • Once installed, you will connect to eduroam automatically and will not need to re-enter your password when it changes.
  • When the certificate expires, follow renewal instructions sent via email.

Troubleshooting and Special Cases

Guest and Sponsored Access

  • ULsponsor and ULvisitor networks are available for guests and short-term visitors.
  • Sponsored accounts require a UofL faculty or staff sponsor.

Outcome

After completing these steps, your device will be securely connected to UofL’s wireless network, with encrypted access and automatic credential management.
