PeopleSoft Financials: How to Access and View the Financial System

This article helps UofL faculty and staff understand the PeopleSoft Financials System to view previous university business transactions. PeopleSoft Financials includes general ledger, purchasing, expense reporting, budgeting and more. You must have a valid UofL account and appropriate permissions to access system features.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure you have a valid UofL user account and login credentials.
  • As this is no longer an active system, all access to PeopleSoft Financials is limited and requires a VPN.
  • Job-related access to PeopleSoft Financials requires approval by your Lead Fiscal Officer (LFO) or Unit Business Manager (UBM).
  • Some features may require specific security roles or permissions.

Learn how to access and use PeopleSoft Financials for university financial transactions and reporting.

Instructions

  1. Access PeopleSoft Financials
    Using the UofL VPN, log in to PeopleSoft Financials through ULink using your UofL credentials.

  2. Request Account Access

    • Access requests require completion by your UBM or LFO.
    • Use the Account Request form in the Financials section of University Reports.
    • Select Add, Modify, Remove or Transfer as needed for your account type if applicable.
    • For security roles requiring training, you will be notified and must complete required training before access is granted.
  3. Navigate Key Features

    • Use PeopleSoft Financials for general ledger accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, employee reimbursement, budgeting and sponsored programs.
    • Access BI Listing Reports for budget and expense information (requires ULink login).
    • For travel and expense profile requests, navigate to NavBar > Employee Self-Service > Travel and Expenses > Expense Profile Request.
  4. Find Training and Support

    • Financial training courses are available for advanced users, including accounting setup, reconciliation, accounts payable and reporting.
    • View current class listings and registration on the Financial Training Courses page.

Outcome

After completing these steps, you will be able to access PeopleSoft Financials and use the system to view university financial transactions and reporting.
