Accounts: How to Reset Your Password

Summary

You can reset your University account password online using the Identity Management portal. This guide is for students, employees, sponsored users and service account holders who need to change their password to access university systems.

Body

Before You Begin

  • You need your University user ID and current password.
  • Your new password must meet the University’s password policy (ISO-008 v2.2).
  • Service account holders must log in with the service account credentials.

Objective or Task

Reset your University of Louisville password using the self-service portal.

Instructions

For Students and Employees

  1. Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
  2. Click the Reset Your Password button.
  3. Enter your user ID and click NEXT.
  4. Enter your current password and click NEXT.
  5. Click the MY ACCOUNTS tab.
  6. Enter your new password. Make sure it meets the University’s password policy, which is displayed on the right side of the screen.
  7. Click the RESET PASSWORD button.
  8. A pop-up window will confirm your password change. You will also receive a confirmation email or text message.

For Service Accounts

  1. Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
  2. Click the Reset Your Password button.
  3. Enter the service account user ID and click NEXT.
  4. Enter the service account password and click NEXT.
  5. Click the MY ACCOUNTS tab.
  6. Enter the new password for the service account. Make sure it meets the University’s password policy.
  7. Click the RESET PASSWORD button.
  8. A pop-up window will confirm the password change. You will also receive a confirmation email or text message.

For Sponsored Users

  1. Go to https://identity.louisville.edu.
  2. Click the Reset Your Password button.
  3. Enter your user ID and click NEXT.
  4. Enter your current password and click NEXT.
  5. Click the MY ACCOUNTS tab.
  6. Enter your new password. Make sure it meets the University’s password policy.
  7. Click the RESET PASSWORD button.
  8. A pop-up window will confirm your password change. You will also receive a confirmation email or text message.

Outcome

Your password will be reset and you will receive a confirmation message by email or text. You can now log in to university systems with your new password.

    • Monday through Thursday: 6:00am – 10:00pm
    • Friday: 6:00am – 5:00pm
    • Saturday: 7:00am – 5:00pm

    • Closed on Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
    • If you have an emergency during off hours, call the HelpDesk to be transferred to an on-call technician, or leave your request on voicemail. Your call will be returned the next day starting at 7am unless you specify a time.
